Your content

Affordable-web-design-content-imageYour website content.

Most of the time people think that the most important aspect of your website or website design is the visual appearance.  You can wow a person with a visual extravaganza of beautiful Flash animations and lots of beautiful pictures.  This will only work for a few seconds the first visit to your site, and possible the last time.

After a few remarks of this is cool and I wonder how they did that, your visitor wants to know what you are all about and what you have to offer.  Getting a user to your site is one thing, keeping them there is a whole different ball game.

This is the hard part on your side.  And it’s actually harder than you think.  We definitely can assist you and guide you through the process, but it’s your website and your companies view to the world.  You have to sit down and write exactly what you want to say to your potential customers.  You know your client’s the best.  You know what you want to say to them.

I say again.  Your content is the most important part of your site.  Not how much flash animations or the Web 2 style buttons and icons your using for the menus.

Sit down and think about the sites that you regularly visit.  Why do you go there and why do you return?  Think about the information you want when you visit them.  Then you think about what you want your visitors get out of your site.  Think about the information you want to give to your visitors.

Look at your site as if you are looking through a bunch of CV’s.  The ones with the beautiful cover and all sorts of colors inside will pull you towards it.  But if it does not have substance, there is no way that you will appoint the person.

The same goes for your website.  You will need to write good content for your users to keep them occupied for a while and to encourage them to come back.

Why is your content so important?

When you look for something on the Internet, you probably used Google to search for it.  You put in some search terms and Google spit out the relevant results.  Thus when Google comes to visit your site, it looks at a whole bunch of stuff to decide to list your website above a rival site.

Think about this for a while.  There is no team of humans that goes through the net looking at all the millions of websites and decides which of them is visually pleasing.  This is done by little computer programs that crawl from one site to the next.  They basically do this, by following the one link to the next.  Thus, your page must at least have one link from another page to be noticed by Google.  If you have good content, other websites or webmasters will give you vote by linking to your site.

There is lots of ways to get others websites to link you yours, but one that will bring long term results is not some underhand tricks of the trade.  The one thing that will stand out above all other is good content.  Now hover over that for a while.

Google is in the business of providing us, the Internet surfers out there, with information that we want.  Thus the one big thing Google looks at is whether you have good content on your site and whether this will benefit your readers.  That is where you score points with Google, and when you score points with Google, you will start to get more users and then it’s a snowball that just keeps on getting bigger.  Google do not want to list sites that will not benefit the user looking for information.  If that starts to happen, we will go to the next Search Engine as Google is not doing its job anymore.

And so I will say this one last time.  To have a successful website, you must have decent content and you must update and renew the content over time.  We will assit you, but you have to sit down and think about it for a while.  This is where you need to come to the party.
